Endometrial cancer (UCEC) is the most prevalent gynecological malignancy in high-income countries, and its incidence is rising globally. Although early-stage UCEC can be treated with surgery, advanced cases have a poor prognosis, highlighting the need for effective molecular biomarkers to improve diagnosis and prognosis. In this study, we analyzed mRNA and miRNA sequencing data from UCEC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues from the TCGA database.

We comprehensively examined and contrasted the structural attributes and in vitro human fecal fermentation behavior of butyrylated RS (BRS) with varying degrees of substitution. Fourier-transform infrared analysis validated the successful integration of carbonyl groups into the starch matrix.

Methods: One-hundred four patients with CI-CVD and 107 control subjects were retrospectively recruited from the 14-year elderly MRA cohort, and 63 subjects were enrolled for external validation. Automated quantitative analysis was applied to analyse the morphological features, including the stenosis score, length, relative length, twisted angle, and maximum deviation of cerebral arteries.
E-cigarette/vaping-associated lung injury (EVALI) is strongly associated with vitamin E acetate and often occurs with concomitant tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) use. To uncover pathways associated with EVALI, we examined cytokines, transcriptomic signatures, and lipidomic profiles in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from THC-EVALI patients. At a single center, we prospectively enrolled mechanically ventilated patients with EVALI from THC-containing products (N = 4) and patients with non-vaping acute lung injury and airway controls (N = 5).

Metabolites can double as a signaling modality that initiates physiological adaptations. Metabolism, a chemical language encoding biological information, has been recognized as a powerful principle directing inflammatory responses. Cytosolic pH is a regulator of inflammatory response in macrophages.

Methods: We performed a metabolome-wide Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis on 486 blood metabolites and acne using a genome-wide association dataset.
Since 2023, an infectious upper respiratory tract disease has been persisted in outbreaks among in a flock of Cherry Valley ducks in Shandong Province, China. This outbreak was traced to avian metapneumovirus subtype C (aMPV-C), a significant pathogen associated with egg-drop and acute respiratory diseases in poultry. It is noteworthy that prior to this, aMPV-C infection had not been previously documented in Cherry Valley ducks within China.

Objective: This study aimed to establish and validate predictive models for AKI in hospitalized patients with CAP based on machine learning algorithms.
Methods: We trained and externally validated 5 machine learning algorithms, including logistic regression, support vector machine, random forest, extreme gradient boosting, and deep forest (DF).
Objective: This study aims to develop a fully automated, computed tomography (CT)-based deep learning (DL) model to segment ossified lesions of the posterior longitudinal ligament and to measure the thickness of the ossified material and calculate the cervical spinal cord compression factor.
Methods: A total of 307 patients were enrolled, with 260 patients from Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, and 47 patients from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Southwest Medical University. CT images were used to manually segment the Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) by 4 experienced radiologists.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major global health concern, and while traditional pulmonary function tests are effective, recent radiomics advancements offer enhanced evaluation by providing detailed insights into the heterogeneous lung changes.
Purpose: To develop and validate a radiomics nomogram based on clinical and whole-lung computed tomography (CT) radiomics features to stratify COPD severity.
Patients And Methods: One thousand ninety-nine patients with COPD (including 308, 132, and 659 in the training, internal and external validation sets, respectively), confirmed by pulmonary function test, were enrolled from two institutions.
Background: The prevalence of chronic coronary heart diseases (CHDs) increases with age in the elderly, which represents one of the top-ranked causes of death and disease burden.
Methods: This study aimed to investigate the management efficiency of telemedicine based on the remote multiparameter monitoring in elderly patients with CHD. A total of 1248 elderly patients diagnosed with CHD were enrolled.
Objectives: Evidence of the effects of ketoanalogue supplements on residual kidney function (RKF) in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ketoanalogues in preserving RKF in CAPD patients.
Methods: This 1-year multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo (PBO)-controlled trial involved 153 CAPD patients across 6 centers.
Current oral formulations of macromolecules including peptides typically rely on single permeation enhancer (PE) to promote absorption and thus bioavailability. In this work, we combined two PEs, namely sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl) amino] caprylate (SNAC) and sodium caprate (C10), in one tablet formulation to potentially gain a synergistic effect for enhanced gastric absorption of a GLP-1 analogue and a PCSK9 inhibitor. Permeability tests on a gastric organoids-based cell model showed that the combination of SNAC and C10 can significantly improve peptide permeability compared to either SNAC or C10 alone.

Early identification of COVID-19 patients at high risk of progressing to critical disease helps improve overall patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
Purpose: To develop a radiomics nomogram to predict the risk of newly admitted middle-aged and elderly COVID-19 patients progressing to critical disease.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other age-related disorders associated with demyelination exhibit sex differences. In this work, we used single-nuclei transcriptomics to dissect the contributions of sex chromosomes and gonads in demyelination and AD. In a mouse model of demyelination, we identified the roles of sex chromosomes and gonads in modifying microglia and oligodendrocyte responses before and after myelin loss.

The latest advancement in dendritic cell (DC) tumor vaccine construction involves loading DC with mRNA-encoding neoantigens, which allows for rapid production and is suitable for personalized preparation. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are emerging as biological delivery systems in which negatively charged nucleic acids can be wound onto the cationic CPP backbone to form nanoscale complexes.

Oral delivery of peptides requires formulations with high concentrations of permeation enhancer (PE) to promote absorption, and often necessitates fasting time between dosing and food ingestion. Improved formulations promoting a more rapid absorption would increase convenience of use but requires a faster onset of action. We have developed a salcaprozate-based ionic liquid (IL) formulation, namely choline salcaprozate (CHONAC), for oral delivery of a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue via gastric absorption.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with amyloid production and buildup in the brain, leading to neurodegeneration. In this study, we used a solvent-thermal technique to produce light-sensitive carbon nanodots (L-CNDs). L-CNDs exhibit outstanding photocatalytic properties, producing singlet oxygen (O) under 630 nm irradiation.
