Recently we have revealed angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-activating factor(s) in human neutrophils and blood. In this study the distribution of ACE-activating factor(s) was examined in various tissues. The effect of supernatants obtained from heated bovine tissue extracts on the activity of purified kidney ACE was studied.

An endogenous ACE activator has been revealed. Neutrophil-enriched human leucocyte preparations released in isotonic media a relatively thermostable factor, capable of increasing the angiotensin-converting enzyme activity 1.6-2.
