Pigmented epithelioid melanocytoma (PEM) is a rare and diagnostically challenging skin neoplasm. Differentiating this lesion from melanoma is challenging due to overlapping clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical features. Some PEMs have a benign course, while others may be associated with more aggressive behaviour and have potential for local recurrence or distant metastasis.

Methods: A total of 13 eyes of post-penetrating keratoplasty patients with pathologically irregular mydriatic pupil were included in this prospective interventional study. Preoperative wavefront analysis was done with the actual pupil size, and predicted wavefront values were analyzed by setting the postoperative pupil size to 2 mm.
Self-rating questionnaires are necessary to quantify the impairment and the impact of impairment on the quality of life, provided that these questionnaires are delivered in the patient's native language. There are no questionnaires to assess the symptom severity of oropharyngeal dysphagia in Kannada-speaking individuals. The Sydney Swallow Questionnaire (SSQ) is one such explicit tool to assess the symptoms of dysphagia, especially among patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia.

Though numerous bacteria have been used as probiotics by industries, at present, Saccharomyces boulardii and Saccharomyces cerevesiae are the only yeast probiotics which are industrially exploited. In view of this, yeast probiotics were isolated from traditional fermented foods and products collected from different parts of Karnataka, India. In this work, we have studied the probiotic attributes of ten yeast isolates isolated from different traditionally fermented foods and products.

Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is known for wide applications, biocompatibility, and degradability; however, it cannot be commercialized due to conventional recovery using solvents. The present study employed mechanical cell-disruption methods, such as Pestle and mortar, sonication, and glass bead vortexing, for solvent-free extraction of PHA from sp. Different time intervals were set for grinding (5, 10, 15 min), sonicating (1, 3 and 5 min), and vortexing (2, 5 and 8 g glass beads with 5, 10 and 15 min each) hence studying their effect on cell lysis to release PHA.

Our hospital-based retrospective study investigated the clinical and microbiological spectrum of primary pyomyositis between 2013 and 2021 in PGIMER (Chandigarh), India. Over a quarter had predisposing conditions, mainly diabetes mellitus and immunosuppressive therapy.

Rheumatic heart disease was previously considered a significant risk factor, changing to intravenous drug abuse in recent decades. We hereby report a case of tricuspid native valve endocarditis complicating the peri-partum period in a young female without underlying traditional risk factors, who improved with medical therapy alone.

Method: A nonrandomized, prospective cross-sectional design with purposive sampling was used in the study. The cross-cultural adaptation was performed using a standard guideline for developing the questionnaire.
The primary objective of this study was to assess the probiotic attributes and antifungal activity of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) against the fungus, . Among the 20 isolates screened for their antifungal attributes, isolate MYSN7 showed strong antifungal activity and was selected for further analysis. The isolate MYSN7 exhibited potential probiotic characteristics, having 75 and 70% survival percentages in pH3 and pH2, respectively, 68.

CPMB exhibited high selectivity towards Cu ions via fluorescence quenching mechanism, which combined the character of high selectivity towards Cu assay even in the presence of other common metal ions such as Cu, Al, Co, Ni, Mn, Zn Pb Cd, Fe, Hg, Mg and Fe (30 μM) ethanol-water (1:9 v/v) system. Upon the addition of the solution of Cu ions to CPMB, the complexation of Cu with CPMB leads to the immediate formation of light green color, indicating that CPMB can act as simple colorimetric sensor, particularly for Cu in the presence of most interfering metal ions in ethanol-water medium.

It has diverse range of presentations from fever, altered sensorium, nausea, vomiting, meningismus to seizures, neurological deficits and coma in advanced stages. It is associated with significant morbidity and mortality if treatment is delayed or inadequate.

Phage therapy can be one such alternative to antibiotic therapy to combat multidrug-resistant pathogenic bacteria, but this requires the availability of phages with a broad host range.

However, no such report has been published so far in children. We describe a 13-year-old female child who presented to the emergency department with complaints of bilateral upper limb, lower limb and truncal weakness over 3 days following first dose of recombinant protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine (Corbevax).

Limbic system involvement has been reported rarely, with limited data on its prevalence. The diagnosis becomes challenging when a patient presents with limbic system involvement in the absence of a clear history of an animal bite.

One of the most promising future strategies in cancer treatment is using microorganisms as cancer indicators, prophylactic agents, immune activators, vaccines or vectors in antitumor therapy. The success of bacteria-mediated chemotherapy will be dependent on the balance of therapeutic benefit and the control of bacterial infection in the body.
