Background Several studies have investigated the role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in diagnosing and predicting the severity of acute appendicitis; however, few studies have analyzed its usefulness in pediatric appendicitis patients particularly in predicting postoperative complications. We investigated the role of NLR and assessed its clinical utility as a predictor of postoperative infectious complications in children with acute appendicitis. Methodology We performed a prospective cross-sectional study from July 2023 to July 2024 on 135 pediatric patients aged five to 12 years undergoing emergency appendectomy and having operative findings or histopathological confirmation of appendicitis.

The current study was designed to determine the phytoconstituents, antioxidant, and cytotoxic potential of ethyl acetate (IRK-ETH) and methanol (IRK-MTH) extracts of Iris kashmiriana flowers. IRK-MTH extract demonstrated maximum radical scavenging activity in DPPH, ABTS, and Superoxide anion radical antioxidant assays with IC values of 73.

The realisation of correlation-driven phenomena in graphene has remained a longstanding goal, primarily due to the absence of strong electron-electron interactions within its low-energy bands. In this context, magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene has recently emerged as a novel platform featuring correlated phases favoured by the low-energy flat bands of the underlying moiré superlattice.

In magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene, van Hove singularities appear at low energies and are malleable with density, leading to a sequence of Lifshitz transitions and resets observable in Hall measurements. However, without a magnetic field, linear transport measurements have limited sensitivity to the band's topology.

Understanding the prevalent uropathogens and their drug susceptibility is essential for limiting the antimicrobial resistance through implementation of stewardship policies. In view of this, present study was envisaged to determine the prevalent bacterial uropathogens and their antibiogram from clinical cases of canine UTI.

In this work, we investigate correlated phases due to the combined effect of spin-orbit coupling-enhanced valley polarisation and the large density of states below half filling of the moiré band in twisted bilayer graphene coupled to tungsten diselenide. We observe an anomalous Hall effect, accompanied by a series of Lifshitz transitions that are highly tunable with carrier density and magnetic field.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) made by green synthesis offer a variety of biochemical properties and are an excellent alternative to traditional medications due to their low cost. In the current study, we synthesised AgNPs from the leaf extract of the medicinal plant , commonly called narumpanal. The nanoparticles were characterised by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

The effect of inflammation on the stroma and its association with progression has also been stated in literature.
Materials And Methods: The control group consisted of 10 patients with apparently normal mucosa with no history of habits, the study group consisted of 30 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) confirmed by examination and incisional biopsy.
Quantum Hall (QH) interferometry provides an archetypal platform for the experimental realization of braiding statistics of fractional QH states. However, the complexity of observing fractional statistics requires phase coherence over the length of the interferometer, as well as suppression of Coulomb charging energy. Here, we demonstrate a new type of QH interferometer based on marginally twisted bilayer graphene (mtBLG), with a twist angle θ ≈ 0.

This study aims to unravel drugs and associated off-label targets that induce RMS by exploiting FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) and Pharmacovigilance/Pharmacogenomics Insilico Pipeline (PHARMIP).
Methods: The case/non-case retrospective observational study was conducted in the FAERS database.
The planar assembly of twisted bilayer graphene (tBLG) hosts multitude of interaction-driven phases when the relative rotation is close to the magic angle (θ = 1.1). This includes correlation-induced ground states that reveal spontaneous symmetry breaking at low temperature, as well as possibility of non-Fermi liquid (NFL) excitations.

Materials And Methods: Sixty-four patients with missing mandibular anterior teeth of both genders were provided with a single implant and restored with cantilever screw-retained prosthesis.
Background: Lifestyle modification, along with medication, has improved the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), but the treatment of diabetes in women still lacks a gender-centric approach.
Methods: Expert opinions to improve diabetes management in women were collated from the open discussion forum organized by the sixth Jothydev's Professional Education Forum Diabetes Convention, which included global diabetes care experts and the general public. The review is also based on the studies published in electronic databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar that discussed the problems and challenges faced by the Indian diabetes care sector in treating women with diabetes.
Background And Aim: Neonatal diabetes mellitus (NDM) is a rare monogenic disorder of pancreatic beta cell mass and/or function. In the present study we aimed to evaluate the INS gene mutations in a cohort of children with Permanent Neonatal Diabetes Mellitus (PNDM) and to explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of PNDM caused by INS mutations.
Methods: Direct sequencing of all exons of INS genes was carried out in 189 children with PNDM.
We demonstrate a novel form of transfer characteristics in substrate engineered MoS2 field effect transistors. Robust hysteresis with stable threshold voltages and a large gate voltage window is observed, which is suppressed at low temperatures. We analyse the dependence of the device characteristics on gate voltage range, gate stressing and sweep rates.

Background: Speech perception encompasses the perception of spectro-temporal cues. These cues include temporal envelope, temporal fine structure, and spectral shape of the signal. Extraction of these cues is essential for speech perception and, most importantly, for perceiving speech in the presence of noise (SPIN).
