Objective: Chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMSP) is frequent in chronic diseases, decreasing the quality of life of these patients. In a survey conducted in Belgium in 2019, chronic pain was named by patients as the main factor of complexity in their lives. The objective of our research was to provide elements to understand why and how CMSP contributes to the complexity of these people's lives.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis of a beneficial role of worker participation in the decision-making process as a buffer against demanding work organisation on mental and physical health and commitment.

Methods: A cross-sectional study (N = 1134) was conducted among workers employed in the health and homecare sector. Multiple regressions and moderation analyses were performed to test whether worker participation in decision-making moderates the association between demanding work organisation and health and whether it directly predicts work commitment.

Background: Older adults with multimorbidity are at high risk of mortality following COVID-19 hospitalisation. However, the potential benefit of timely primary care follow-up on severe outcomes post-COVID-19 has not been well established.

Aim: To examine the effectiveness of attending general outpatient within 30 days after discharge from COVID-19 on 1-year survival among older adults aged ≥85 years, with multimorbidity.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) form a vast family comprising more than 4700 synthetic compounds. Their molecules contain a terminal functional group and a hydrophobic carbon tail (alkyl group) at which the hydrogen atoms are totally (in the case of perfluorinated compounds) or partially (in the case of polyfluorinated compounds) replaced by fluorine atoms. Due to the very specific properties of their structure, they have been used in a vast range of applications over the last 70 years.

Objective: Patients needs should be regularly assessed. We aimed to improve assessment and documentation of needs from baseline 25% in June 2022 to 75% in December 2022.

Methods: The A3, a structured problem-solving continuous-improvement methodology was used.

Theranostic and personalized medicine are blooming strategies to improve oncologic patients' health care and facilitate early treatment. While F-radiochemistry for theranostic application is attractive due to its imaging properties, combining diagnosis by positron emission tomography (PET) via aluminum-fluoride-18 and β therapy with lutetium-177 is relevant. Nevertheless, it requires the use of two different chelating agents, which are NOTA and DOTA for aluminum-fluoride-18 and lutetium-177 radiolabeling, respectively.

Radiation recall pneumonitis (RRP) is a type of radiation induced lung injury that develops in a previously irradiated lung field and is triggered by administration of chemotherapeutic or immunomodulating agents. To our knowledge there is only one report of Osimertinib induced RRP. The predominant symptoms include dyspnea and cough which usually resolve after stopping the inciting agent and with glucocorticoids.

Do-it-yourself methods have been used in many fields (cooking, home improvement, decoration, gardening, etc.) for a long time, but their application to the cosmetics sector is relatively recent and seems to be linked to a number of health scandals. The objective of this work is to analyse homemade cosmetics based on a study of blogs and their authors.

Article Synopsis
  • An 81-year-old woman experienced severe toxic rhabdomyolysis after taking palbociclib and simvastatin together, marking the fourth known case of this condition.
  • This is the first reported instance where plasma exchanges successfully treated the patient, leading to complete recovery in two months.
  • The case highlights the need to further investigate potential drug interactions between palbociclib (and similar drugs) and statins, which may elevate the risk of serious side effects.

Few studies on microplastics (MPs) in the marine environment have been conducted along the Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea and even fewer along the Lebanese coast. This study aims to determine MPs contamination for the first-time in coastal and continental shelf sediments collected along the Lebanese shores, South-Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Sediments were collected as transects in 10 sites with a total of 23 samples between 2 and 120 m depth and suspected MPs were assessed by moving farther from land-based sources.

Aim Of The Study: While hospitals are adopting strategies designed to increase the overall efficiency of the healthcare system, physicians are facing expanding requirements. Such changes in work environment add new psychosocial and physical stressors. Building on a previous quantitative time-motion study, we conducted a qualitative study to better understand the work experience of internal medicine residents.

Background: Research is needed to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates physicians to do their work and what keeps them in the profession.

Objectives: To explore calling as an approach to work in a sample of physicians.

Methods: We designed an online survey addressing career choice and career calling among physicians in French-speaking Switzerland, and measured associations between calling and categorical variables (participant characteristics, motivations for choosing medicine, career choice(s) and consistency, and definition of calling).

Hypovitaminosis C, or scurvy, is thought to be an uncommon condition. Although prevalent in the 19th century, its ease of absorption and availability in a general diet has greatly reduced its incidence. Vitamin C is necessary for a number of physiological processes and deficiency can result in a number of complications including bleeding/bruising, anaemia and gingival hyperplasia.

The emergence of non-native fungal pathogens is a growing threat to global health, biodiversity, conservation biology, food security and the global economy. Moreover, a thorough understanding of the spread and emergence of pathogens among invasive and native host populations, as well as genetic analysis of the structure of co-invasive host populations, is crucial in terms of conservation biology and management strategies. Here we combined extensive catchment sampling, molecular detection tools and genomic signatures to i) assess the prevalence of the rosette agent Sphaerothecum destruens in invasive and native fish populations in contrasting french regions, and ii) characterize the genetic diversity and population structure of its co-invasive and asymptomatic carrier Pseudorasbora parva.

Varicella gangrenosa is a rare but life-threatening dermatological complication of infection with varicella-zoster virus. A healthy 37-year-old male who had been diagnosed with varicella 20 days back was admitted to our hospital with complaints of fever and painful necrotic skin lesions. Physical examination revealed multiple round to oval ulcers covered with eschar predominantly over arms, lower limbs, back of trunk and flanks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how recent legislation on physical activity prescriptions affects general practitioners’ practices, motivations, and barriers in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France.
  • A survey with 283 GPs showed that younger, online participants were more likely to engage in regular physical activity compared to older, office-based GPs.
  • Despite a high motivation score for prescribing physical activity, barriers varied by age; younger GPs faced self-imposed challenges, while older GPs attributed obstacles to patients, highlighting the need for improved PA prescription practices in primary care.
