The kinetic factors of the liquid-solid interface formation process are extremely useful in the design of composite preparation methods and the manufacture of comprehensive performance-controlled metal- or ceramic-based composites. Here, we review the available spreading dynamic models, focusing on wetting at high temperatures. There is yet to be developed a general spreading dynamic model with complete physical meaning that can accurately describe complicated surface-interface kinetic processes at high temperatures.

Complex and high levels of various pollutants in high-strength wastewaters hinder efficient and stable biological nutrient removal. In this study, the changes in pollutant removal performance and microbial community structure in a laboratory-scale anaerobic/aerobic sequencing batch reactor (SBR) treating simulated pre-fermented high-strength wastewater were investigated under different influent loading conditions. The results showed that when the influent chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen (TN), and orthophosphate (PO-P) concentrations in the SBR increased to 983, 56, and 20 mg/L, respectively, the COD removal efficiency was maintained above 85%, the TN removal efficiency was 64.

BAR (Bin/Amphiphysin/Rvs) domain containing proteins function as lipid bilayer benders and curvature sensors, and they contribute to membrane shaping involved in cell signaling and metabolism. The mechanism for their membrane shape sensing has been investigated by both equilibrium binding and kinetic studies. In prior research, stopped-flow spectroscopy has been used to deduce a positive dependence on membrane curvature for the binding rate constant, k, of a BAR protein called endophilin.

Acid-sensitive ion channels (ASICs) are cationic channels activated by extracellular protons and widely distributed in the nervous system of mammals. This study aimed to analyze the factors of rapid attenuation of graft endothelium in the early stage after penetrating keratoplasty (PKP), with a view to guiding patients with PKP to better long-term outcomes. This study included 226 patients who underwent PKP with follow-up time >1 year at the Qingdao Eye Hospital of Shandong First Medical University from January 2018 to June 2020. Medical records were retrospectively studied, and donor factors, patient factors, and surgical factors were comparatively analyzed to clarify those affecting the rapid decay of graft endothelium after PKP.

A light-promoted Ni-catalyzed cyanation of aryl halides employing 1,4-dicyanobenzene as a cyanating agent is reported. A broad array of aryl bromides, chlorides, and druglike molecules could be converted into their corresponding nitriles (65 examples). Mechanistic studies suggest that upon irradiation, the oxidative addition product Ni(II)(dtbbpy)(-CHCN)(CN) undergoes homolytic cleavage of the Ni-aryl bond to generate an aryl radical and a Ni(I)-CN species, the latter of which initiates subsequent cyanation reactions.

A hybrid photocatalytic assembly with Ni poly-pyridine polymers binding on CdS quantum dots was developed via thiophene immobilization. The fabricated hybrid assembly facilitated efficient charge separation, and each component endowed great synergy. As a result, a high syngas production rate was achieved over 5500 μmol g  h from photocatalytic CO reduction under visible-light irradiation, accompanied by an adjustable H /CO ratio ranging from 4 : 1 to 1 : 3.
