Background: Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) progresses slowly, but patients with lung metastasis (LM) have a poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the predictive ability of machine learning (ML) models in estimating the risk of LM in patients with DTC and to identify the independent risk factors specific to different age and gender subgroups.

Methods: The demographic and clinicopathological data of patients with DTC were obtained from two databases: firstly, the National Institutes of Health Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database [2010-2015], which provides extensive epidemiological and clinical information on cancer patients; secondly, the Zhangzhou Municipal Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University [2014-2017], which focuses more on patients' specific clinicopathological characteristics and treatment outcomes.

This study explored the use of algae to supply oxygen in situ as an alternative to mechanical aeration for anaerobic effluent treatment in a photo-sequencing batch biofilm reactor (PSBBR). Background: Prediabetes mellitus (PreDM) is a high-risk state for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and often goes undiagnosed, which is closely associated with obesity and characterized by insulin resistance that urgently needs to be treated.

Purpose: To obtain a better understanding of the biological processes associated with both "spleen-dampness" syndrome individuals and those with dysglycaemic control at its earliest stages, we performed a detailed metabolomic analysis of individuals with various early impairments in glycaemic control, the results can facilitate clinicians' decision making and benefit individuals at risk.

Methods: According to the diagnostic criteria of TCM patterns and PreDM, patients were divided into 4 groups with 20 cases, patients with syndrome of spleen deficiency with dampness encumbrance and PreDM (PDMPXSK group), patients with syndrome of dampness-heat in the spleen and PreDM (PDMSRYP group), patients with syndrome of spleen deficiency with dampness encumbrance and normal blood glucose (NDMPXSK group), and patients with syndrome of dampness-heat in the spleen and normal blood glucose (NDMSRYP group).

Glycopolymer-supported silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have demonstrated a promising alternative to antibiotics for the treatment of multidrug-resistant bacteria-infected diseases. In this contribution, we report a class of biohybrid glycopolymersome-supported AgNPs, which are capable of effectively killing multidrug-resistant bacteria and disrupting related biofilms. Aims: This study explores the phosphate (Pi)-solubilizing characteristics and mechanisms of a novel phosphate-solubilizing bacterium, Agrobacterium deltaense C1 (C1 hereafter).

Methods And Results: The growth-promoting effects of C1 were investigated by gnotobiotic experiments, and the Pi-solubilizing mechanism was revealed by extracellular metabolomics, liquid chromatography analysis, and reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The land application of food waste digestate (FWD) requires a composting process to improve its soil amendment performance and alleviate environmental risks. This study proposed co-composting of Chinese medicinal herbal residues (CMHRs) and FWD as a means to improve the maturation performance and investigated the evolution of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). A novel three-component Pd/norbornene cooperative catalysis cascade decarboxylative [2+2+2]/[2+2+3]cyclization of 4-iodoisoquinolin-1(2)-ones and -bromobenzoic acids or 8-bromo-1-naphthoic acid has been developed. The method affords a range of fused phenanthridinones and hepta[1,2-]isoquinolinones and displays unique regioselectivity and broad substrate scope.
