Methods: The study analyzed data from 608 female patients who sought consultation at the Eating Disorders Referral Center between 2017 and 2021. The diagnoses were established according to the DSM-5 criteria by endocrinologists, psychiatrists, and finally confirmed or discussed within a monthly multidisciplinary consensus meeting (MCM).
Background: According to case‒control studies, a multitude of factors contribute to the emergence of anorexia nervosa (AN). The present systematic review examines prospective studies specifically designed to evaluate the prediction of AN onset.
Methods: According to the ARMSTAR 2 and PRISMA 2020 checklists, the PubMed, PsycINFO and Cochrane databases were searched.
Immunoassays are used for many applications in various markets, from clinical diagnostics to the food industry, generally relying on gold-standard ELISAs that are sensitive, robust, and cheap but also time-consuming and labour intensive. As an alternative, we propose here the magnetically localized and wash-free fluorescence immunoassay (MLFIA): a no-wash assay to directly measure a biomolecule concentration, without mixing nor washing steps. To do so, a fluorescence no-wash measurement is performed to generate a detectable signal.

Experimental studies were performed on a model of hepatocellular carcinoma induced by administration of diethyl nitrosamine to Fisher-344 rats. In addition, the levels of α-fetoprotein and osteopontin were determined in 35 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma detected at stages I-II according to TNM classification.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: The 2009 influenza pandemic highlighted challenges for vaccine post-marketing monitoring in Europe, particularly the need to have appropriate infrastructures to strengthen public-private collaborations (PPCs) with suitable processes to improve stakeholder interactions and collection and analysis of safety and effectiveness data. The ADVANCE consortium comprises public and private stakeholders who have worked together to build and test new system components for vaccine post-marketing projects, one component being a governance framework for efficient, transparent and trustworthy PPCs.
Methods: Based on the results of a landscape analysis and screening of formalised existing governance structures, we identified the elements of a governance framework and developed recommendations to support stakeholders willing and able to implement collaborative projects.
We previously reported that deficiency of membrane-type five matrix metalloproteinase (MT5-MMP) prevents amyloid pathology in the cortex and hippocampus of 5xFAD mice, and ameliorates the functional outcome. We have now investigated whether the integrity of another important area affected in Alzheimer's disease (AD), the frontal cortex, was also preserved upon MT5-MMP deficiency in 4-month old mice at prodromal stages of the pathology. We used the olfactory H-maze (OHM) to show that learning impairment associated with dysfunctions of the frontal cortex in 5xFAD was prevented in bigenic 5xFAD/MT5-MMP mice.

First, cationic amphiphiles containing the polymeric inducer were prepared and used to efficiently condense a DNA plasmid (pDNA) into a highly monodisperse population of small polymeric cationic DNA nanoparticles (NPs; Dh ∼100 nm). The aim was to examine how supplementary oxygen used for newborn resuscitation would influence early brain tissue injury, cell death and repair processes and the regulation of genes related to apoptosis, neurodegeneration and neuroprotection.
Methods And Findings: Anesthetized newborn piglets were subjected to global hypoxia and then randomly assigned to resuscitation with 21%, 40% or 100% O(2) for 30 min and followed for 9 h.
The optimal oxygen concentration for newborn resuscitation is still discussed. Oxygen administration during reoxygenation may induce short- and long-term pathologic changes via oxidative stress and has been associated to later childhood cancer. The aim was to study changes in oxidative stress-associated markers in liver and lung tissue of newborn pigs after acute hypoxia followed by reoxygenation for 30 min with 21, 40, or 100% oxygen compared with room air or to ventilation with 100% oxygen without preceding hypoxia.
