High-dose melphalan at 200Â mg/m (MEL-200) is the standard conditioning regimen before autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Busulfan (BU) and cyclophosphamide (CY) can be used as alternatives when MEL is unavailable. However, most studies on BU/CY conditioning regimens were conducted before proteasome inhibitors (PIs) and immunomodulatory drugs (IMIDs) were available.

Neutrophils are critical mediators of both the initiation and resolution of inflammation after myocardial infarction (MI). Overexuberant neutrophil signaling after MI exacerbates cardiomyocyte apoptosis and cardiac remodeling while neutrophil apoptosis at the injury site promotes macrophage polarization toward a pro-resolving phenotype. Here, we describe a nanoparticle that provides spatiotemporal control over neutrophil fate to both stymie MI pathogenesis and promote healing.

Methods: Data was pooled from five nationally representative surveys in which 29,418 respondents aged at least 18 years were interviewed face-to-face using the Korean version of the Composite International Diagnostic Interview. A total of 691 (2.
Despite marked advancements in cancer immunotherapy over the past few decades, there remains an urgent need to develop more effective treatments in humans. This review explores strategies to overcome hurdles in cancer immunotherapy, leveraging innovative technologies including multi-specific antibodies, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, myeloid cells, cancer-associated fibroblasts, artificial intelligence (AI)-predicted neoantigens, autologous vaccines, and mRNA vaccines. These approaches aim to address the diverse facets and interactions of tumors' immune evasion mechanisms.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFT cells and macrophages have the potential to collaborate to eliminate tumor cells efficiently. Macrophages can eliminate tumor cells through phagocytosis and subsequently activate T cells by presenting tumor antigens. The activated T cells, in turn, can kill tumor cells and redirect tumor-associated macrophages toward an antitumoral M1 phenotype.

However, the mechanisms of action of bispecific antibody-armed activated T-cells are poorly understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the anti-tumor mechanism and efficacy of BsTE:T.

Prolactin (PRL) is secreted by decidual membranes and accumulated significantly in the amniotic fluid during pregnancy. PRL could ameliorate inflammation and collagen degradation in fetal membranes.

This study introduces Cellytics NK, a novel platform for rapid and precise measurement of NK cell activity. This platform combines an NK-specific activation stimulator cocktail (ASC) and lens-free shadow imaging technology (LSIT), using optoelectronic components.

Purpose: Loneliness is a risk factor for mental and physical disorders. Rapid individualization, with increasing associated social burden, is a contributing factor to loneliness among Koreans. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between loneliness and mental disorders, as well as to determine whether long-term loneliness is a factor predicting the occurrence of mental disorders in adults.

Given that R-CHOP is highly emetogenic, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) prevention is clinically important. However, there is a paucity of studies focusing on these patients.

Few studies have examined the characteristic dermoscopic features of SH, but a more detailed large-scale study is needed to overcome the diagnostic challenge of differentiating it from acral melanoma.
Objectives: To describe the dermoscopic features of SH.
Background: Secukinumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody, was approved in Korea for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis in September 2015.
Objectives: To assess the safety and effectiveness of secukinumab in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis in Korea.
Design: Multicenter, real-world, noninterventional study conducted over 6 years.
Introduction: Despite the current effective treatments for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), early mortality (EM), defined as death within 30 days of presentation, is a major hurdle to long-term survival.
Methods: We performed a multicenter retrospective study to evaluate the incidence and clinical characteristics of EM in patients with newly diagnosed APL and to develop a risk stratification model to predict EM.
Results: We identified 313 eligible patients diagnosed between 2000 and 2021 from five academic hospitals.
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory disorder characterized by chronic deep-seated nodules, abscesses, fistulae, sinus tracts, and scars in apocrine gland-bearing regions. Assessing its severity is challenging because of its clinical heterogeneity, lack of a standardized tool, and increasing severity scores. This article provides a chronological overview of HS grading scales to aid in the understanding and comparison of different scoring systems.

Current methods, such as flow cytometry, are complex, time-consuming, and require specialized expertise and equipment. This study proposes a novel approach for the label-free identification of CD34+ cells using a deep learning model and lens-free shadow imaging technology (LSIT).

However, in clinical practice, whole distal inflow arterial PTA is not frequently performed due to concerns about possible arterial rupture. Therefore, we investigated the safety and efficacy of this procedure at our center, comparing it with the standard venous PTA.

Ponatinib, a third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), was initially designed for treating patients with CML harboring the T315I mutation. However, resistance or intolerance issues may lead to treatment discontinuation.
