The aim of this study was to identify clinico pathological indications for radical resection of odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) in the literature and formulate clinical guidelines for the management of OKCs based on these findings. A systematic review of the literature was undertaken in September 2021 in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Cochrane databases. The following MeSH Keywords terms were used in the search strategies: (odontogenic keratocyst) OR (keratocystic odontogenic tumor) OR (primordial cyst) AND (treatment) OR (Radical resection) OR (Resection of OKC) OR (Treatment methods).

Methods: Lipid accumulation was measured by an oil red O staining kit. The expression of proteins and message RNA was detected by Western blot and quantitative real-time PCR.
Background: Research on resolving implant fracture is still gaining attention as it can be a serious treatment failure outcome. The implant fracture is likely to occur due to increased stress in implant body associated with peri-implant bone resorption.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between degree of peri-implant bone resorption and stress distribution in implant body by using finite element analysis (FEA).
The present study reported the clinical outcomes of 35 patients with mandibular odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) following treatment by radical resection and immediate defect reconstruction. Amongst 565 patients with OKCs that were treated between April 2003 and May 2015, 35 patients underwent segmental or marginal mandibulectomy. The use of radical resection was based on clinical and/or radiographic evidence of size, cortical perforation and subsequent soft tissue involvement, and on the history of previous recurrence of the same lesion.

However, less is known about the expression and association of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 1 with cancer stem cell markers in oral squamous cell carcinoma. This study aimed to investigate the expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 1 and stem cell characteristic markers (lin28 homolog B, B cell-specific Moloney murine leukemia virus integration site 1, and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1) in oral squamous cell carcinoma and analyze their relations.

In addition to IgG, IgE has been shown to play a role in the disease. However, the association between disease activity and IgE specific to the NC16A domain of BP180 in blister fluid remains unclear.

Methods: This study included 48 consecutive patients undergoing radical nephrectomy, who were diagnosed with mRCC and subsequently treated with either everolimus or temsirolimus. Expression levels of 5 major molecular markers involved in the signaling pathway associated with autophagy, including autophagy-related protein (Atg)5, Atg9, Beclin1, microtubule-associated protein light chain 3, and UNC-51-like kinase 1 (ULK1), were measured by immunohistochemical staining of primary renal cell carcinoma specimens.
Objectives: We used optical imaging of live animals and transgenic technology to develop a pulmonary fibrosis model in mice that can non-invasively and in real-time trace the pulmonary fibrosis process.
Results: Fibroblast activation protein-α (FAPα) is selectively expressed in fibrotic foci of human pulmonary fibrosis. It is not expressed in normal tissue.
Introduction: True exfoliation of lens capsule is a relatively rare disorder that has a thin, fluttering membrane in the anterior chamber, mainly located in the pupil area, which is believed to have split from the anterior lens capsule.
Case Report: The authors present here a patient with true exfoliation and primary angle closure glaucoma in both eyes, the ultrastructure of one eye revealed that the delaminated membrane was composed of more than two layers in itself.
Conclusion: Lens capsule true exfoliation could happen in patient with primary angle closure glaucoma, with more than two layers in itself.
Smoking is associated with increased arterial stiffness. However, the impact of smoking cessation on arterial stiffness remains unknown. We investigated the effect of smoking cessation on arterial stiffness.

No ready method has been reported for removing a polyvinylchloride (PVC) pipe entrapped on the penis.
Aim: To present our experience in using hot-melt method to remove a constricted PVC pipe on the penis.
Background: Adrenal ganglioneuroma (GN) is extremely rare. The present study is to describe the largest series of this adrenal tumor treated in a single medical center to our knowledge.
Methods: Clinical details, radiologic, laboratory, and pathologic findings as well as follow-up data were analyzed retrospectively in 17 patients with incidentally discovered adrenal GN who received operative resection at a tertiary referral hospital in eastern China between June 1999 and June 2009.

To investigate the correlation between mutations in promoter, attenuator, and the AmpC enzyme overproduction in Escherichia coli. ampC Promoters from 4 Escherichia coli clinical isolates were cloned upstream to the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene in pCAT3 reporter plasmid. Promoter strengths were measured by chloramphenicol MIC and gene sequencing was done on the cloned ampC promoter and attenuator.

Background: Nasal polyp (NP) is a common and frequently occurring disease in otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery, the pathogenesis of which remains unclear. Differentially expressed genes of mucosal tissues from NP, allergic rhinitis (AR), and normal nasal cavities were screened out by oligonucleotide chip technique and verified by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunohistochemical staining.
Objective: To study gene expression profiles of nasal polyps associated with AR and explore the pathogenic mechanisms of NP at the level of molecular biology.

Taking cats as experiment animal model, the chaotic characteristics of postganglionic inferior cardiac sympathetic nerve activity (PICSNA) is analyzed with Cao method, correlation dimension analysis and largest Lyapunov exponent analysis. The analysis results show that the deterministic chaos lies in the peak-peak interval time series of PICSNA. Our work maybe can help explain why HRV is chaotic.

The objective of the present study was to investigate the antioxidant activity and immunostimulating property of glucosamine (GlcN) using various in vitro and in vivo tests. Results showed that GlcN possessed excellent antioxidant activities as manifested by strong chelating effect on ferrous ions and protection of macromolecules such as protein, lipid, and deoxyribose from oxidative damage induced by hydroxyl radicals. The immunostimulating effects of GlcN were further evaluated through various immunological tests.

Chromosomal aberrations were analyzed in metaphase II oocytes at 7 weeks after irradiation. The relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of (12)C6+ ion was calculated with respect to 60Co gamma-ray for the induction of chromosomal aberrations.

Here, we report the molecular cloning and functional characterization of a novel alternatively spliced variant of the iron-superoxide dismutase gene, OsFe-SODb, from a rice panicle cDNA library. The alternative splicing event occurred in the fourth exon of the OsFe-SOD gene, and led to the translation of two isoforms of different sizes.

Goal: The goal of this study was to assess the acceptability and outcome of self-referral for male patients with urethral discharge and to identify the characteristics associated with successful outcome based on a specialized STD clinic.
Methods: From November 2001 to November 2002, 730 patients with confirmed urethral discharge were selected and asked by STD clinicians to bring their sexual contacts to treatment in a specialized STD clinic.
In the late phase of the leprosy control programme in Shandong Province, People's Republic of China, there are a few old and disabled ex-patients living in 54 leprosy villages/leprosaria. The small, and declining number of patients makes the running of these leprosy villages/leprosaria uneconomic. In this paper, we review the history and the role of leprosy villages/leprosaria in the care of leprosy patients and the control programme in Shandong province.

In the preparative phase of an SER programme, a province-wide survey was conducted with a semi-structured questionnaire in order to provide policy makers and programme managers with some basic information on the disability, and social and economic situation of the people affected by leprosy. This paper presents the results of a study in the people affected by leprosy living in the communities.
