Article Synopsis
  • Acinetobacter baumannii is a harmful bacteria that causes infections in hospitals, and it often resists treatments like imipenem and colistin, leading to serious public health concerns.
  • This study investigates how low doses of these antibiotics affect the genes related to biofilm formation in A. baumannii, as biofilms make the bacteria more resistant to treatments.
  • Findings reveal that exposure to sub-inhibitory levels of imipenem and colistin alters the bacteria's gene expression and susceptibility to drugs, underscoring the risks of antibiotic overuse.

Background: Dengue is a major health burden worldwide, notably in tropical and subtropical countries, with symptoms ranging from asymptomatic infection to severe hemorrhagic or shock syndrome. The clinical and biochemical profile of dengue has been shown in the literature to be expanding as more atypical signs have been added over the past few decades. Most dengue-related symptoms are typically mild to moderate and self-limited.

Background: Bernard Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder due to deficiency or dysfunction of the glycoprotein GPIb-V-IX complex on the platelet surface. It is also known as hemorrhagiparous thrombocytic dystrophy or congenital hemorrhagiparous thrombocytic dystrophy. The patient usually presents with severe and prolonged bleeding along with characteristics of giant blood platelets and low platelet counts.

Background: Tuberculosis is one of the major infectious diseases of mankind and remains a significant health concern, especially in developing countries. Clinical manifestations of TB are broad and sometimes very challenging for clinicians to diagnose early. Tuberculous psoas abscess was generally secondary to spinal tuberculosis or direct extension from adjacent structures in immunocompromised individuals, but tuberculous psoas abscess in the immunocompetent state is very infrequent.

Scorpions are distributed throughout the world and numerous biological molecules are found in their venom most importantly peptide toxins. These toxins modulate the ion channels either by blocking the pore of the channel or by altering the voltage gating. Molecules which block the pores have been useful in deciphering the structure of the ion channels.

This paper presents the results of the treatment of textile dye wastewater generated from a textile processing industry by electrochemical method. Experiments were conducted at current densities of 12, 24 and 48 A/m2 using mild steel as anode and cathode. During the various stages of electrolysis, parameters such as COD, color and BOD5 were determined in order to know the feasibility of electrochemical treatment.
