Background: Gaucheromas, pseudotumors composed of Gaucher cells, are rare complications of Gaucher's Disease (GD). They are usually seen in patients receiving enzyme replacement. Surgery is generally not recommended for these benign masses in treatment management.

Enhanced effects of levan hydrogels and bovine grafts on guided bone regeneration: In-vitro and in-vivo analysis.

This study was performed to evaluate the regenerative capabilities of levan hydrogels when combined with conventional bone graft materials (Bio-Oss®) in guided bone regeneration (GBR). With the growing interest in the application of levan polysaccharide for regenerative purposes over the last decade, a noticeable gap in in-vivo validations remains. This research therefore fills this gap by utilizing the cytocompatibility and cell proliferation potential of levan hydrogels and marks a preliminary effort in its use in combination with Bio-Oss® for bone regeneration, which was examined both in-vitro and in-vivo for the first time.

Nutrition, Chewing Ability and Quality of Life in Older Adults With Implant Overdentures: A Prospective Clinical Study.

Objectives: To evaluate the changes in nutritional status, chewing ability and oral health-related quality of life in edentulous individuals who have initially been rehabilitated with immediate complete dentures (CD) which are then transformed to implant-supported overdentures (IOD) after a period of osseointegration.

Background: Compared to those with conventional dentures, individuals with IODs exhibit improved patient-reported outcomes, chewing capacity and biting force. While prior research highlights differences in nutritional markers between these groups, there is limited investigation into intra-individual changes in nutritional status, chewing ability and oral health-related quality of life during the transition from CDs to IODs.

Retrospective analysis of ideal needle puncture angles and depths for temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis using CBCT data.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the range of angles and depths necessary for effective entry into the TMJ using CBCT images, focusing on classical Holmlund Hellsing points and a two-needle approach.

Methods: A retrospective cohort of CBCT images from January 2020 to November 2023 was analysed using 3D analysis to determine the variance in the required angles and depths.

Results: The average age of the 68 participants included in the study was 29.

Evaluating ChatGPT-4's performance as a digital health advisor for otosclerosis surgery.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ChatGPT-4, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, in providing accurate and comprehensible information to patients regarding otosclerosis surgery.

Methods: On October 20, 2023, 15 hypothetical questions were posed to ChatGPT-4 to simulate physician-patient interactions about otosclerosis surgery. Responses were evaluated by three independent ENT specialists using the DISCERN scoring system.

Spontaneous regeneration of bone following mandibular ramus bone harvesting: a CBCT analysis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate healing at the donor site following autogenous block graft harvesting from the mandibular ramus. In this retrospective study, cone beam computed tomography images taken at different time-points were examined, and the volumes of preoperative and postoperative regions of interest were calculated in the software. Images were classified into four groups: 0-3 months, 4-6 months, 7-12 months, and >12 months post-surgery.

Conservative Treatment in Adult Degenerative Scoliosis: a Prospective Cohort Study.

Adult degenerative scoliosis (ADS) is a coronal deviation of the spine greater than 10° resulting from the progressive degeneration of the vertebral elements in middle age, which is a three-dimensional deformity. Research Methods And Procedures: In this prospective longitudinal study, the assessments were conducted at: preoperatively (T0) and postoperative first week (T1), second week (T2), first month (T3), and third month (T4) between May 2021 and March 2023.

Evaluating risk factors and complications in mandibular ramus block grafting: a retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: This retrospective cohort study aimed to identify the complications and risk factors associated with alveolar grafting using autologous mandibular ramus grafts, guided by the research question: What are the complications encountered in patients undergoing alveolar bone grafting using autologous mandibular ramus block and what are the risk factors associated with the development of these complications?

Materials And Methods: The study included 70 patients who underwent alveolar crest augmentation with autologous mandibular ramus block grafting. Intraoperative, early postoperative, and late postoperative complications were analyzed, as were various risk factors.

Results: The results showed that the majority of patients had successful outcomes with minimal complications.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of bimaxillary orthognathic surgery on patients' anthropometric measures and laboratory parameters. This study was conducted on patients who underwent bimaxillary orthognathic surgery. Expert Opinion on the Utility of Telemedicine in Obesity Care: Recommendations on a Hybrid Multidisciplinary Integrated Care Follow-Up Algorithm.

Purpose Of Review: The proposed expert opinion was prepared by a panel of obesity and law specialists from Turkey to review the utility of telemedicine in obesity care and to provide a guidance document with recommendations on a hybrid multidisciplinary integrated care follow-up algorithm and the legislation governing telemedicine practice to assist obesity specialists in practicing the telemedicine.

Recent Findings: The efficacy and feasibility of telemedicine interventions in supporting obesity management programs even during pandemics confirm that obesity is a particularly well-suited field for telemedicine, emphasizing the strong likelihood of continued utilization of telemedicine in obesity management, beyond the pandemic period. Telemedicine has great potential to address several barriers to ongoing weight-management care, such as challenges of access to specialized care, cost, and time limitations as well as patient adherence to treatment.

The role of external factors on the reactivation of the heritage language of Turkish-German returnees.

Introduction: This study investigates the heritage language performance of Turkish-German returnees upon their reintegration into Turkey and explores the impact of external factors on their proficiency in the (re-)activated heritage language (HL).

Methods: Data collection involved the participation of 28 Turkish heritage speakers and a control group of 28 monolingual speakers. The language proficiency of both groups was assessed through a cloze test and an error correction task with a focus on converbial constructions, evidentiality and direct object case marking in Turkish.

Background: Although piezosurgery is now commonly used for various applications in maxillofacial surgery, its advantages over conventional rotary instruments in terms of postoperative edema, ecchymosis, postoperative morbidity, and prolonged osteotomy time have been questioned.

Materials And Methods: This study aimed to compare the efficiency, postoperative morbidity, and complication rates of piezosurgery and conventional methods in harvesting autogenous ramus grafts. A total of 30 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus and 60 healthy controls between 24 and 27/6 weeks of gestation were included.

Optimal alignment of implants is quite challenging in extremely atrophied edentulous cases, and a small amount of deviation is expected during guided surgery. Evaluating the influence of the mandibular canal trajectory on the duration of postoperative paraesthesia in patients undergoing inferior alveolar nerve lateralisation: a prospective cohort study.

This prospective cohort study aims to evaluate the influence of the mandibular canal trajectory on the duration of postoperative paraesthesia in patients undergoing inferior alveolar nerve lateralisation (IANL). Twenty patients received a total of 50 dental implants, and their postoperative paraesthesia duration, implant success rate, and anatomical variables were assessed. All patients experienced temporary neurosensory disturbances postoperatively during the first week, but none reported permanent issues at the 12-month follow up.
