Hyperglycemia is a long-lasting syndrome that occurs either when the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin, or the body cannot effectively utilize that insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. Non-insulin-dependent hyperglycemia, also known as type II diabetes, causes a common consequence of severe damage to many of the body's organs mainly the blood vessels and nerves. The majority of people around the world are suffering from non-insulin-dependent diabetes.

In recent years, numerous phytochemicals have been identified as inhibitors of cholinesterases with potential applications in the management of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study three natural coumarins, 2'-O-ethylmurrangatin (), murranganone (), and paniculatin () isolated previously by our group from the leaves of Murraya paniculata, were tested against the two cholinesterases (ChE) enzymes, AChE and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) using assay.

However, the evolutionary relationship and individual expression patterns of the BZR genes are unknown in various crop plants.
Methods And Results: In this study, we performed a genome-wide analysis of the BZR genes family in wheat and rice.
The study is aimed to evaluate the protective impact of banana peel extract (BPE) following noise induce behavioral deficits in male mice. Animals were separated into two groups (control and test, 12 in each). Control mice were given drinking water, at the same time test group was given BPE (400 mg/kg; oral administration).

Tryptophan (TRP) regulated the serotonin neurotransmission. Because systemically injected Res induced behavioral deficits and oxidative stress, while, dietary components prevented these adverse effects, we used TRP a pharmacological tool to prevent Res- induced changes in behavior, memory impairments, oxidative stress and regulation of serotonin neurotransmission in rats.

Setting: Malaysian families were invited to answer the questionnaires.
The current study was designed to determine the outcome of banana fruit pulp (BFP) on repeated noise stress exposure (NSE)-induced behavioral deficits and oxidative stress in male mice. BFP (600mg/kg b.w) was administered orally once daily for 2 weeks prior exposure to noise stress.

Numerous studies have been conducted to determine the total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activity on the pulps and peels; however, similar studies on its foliage have yet to be investigated. In this study, foliage and peels were extracted using two different solvents namely; chloroform and methanol through Folin-Ciocalteu method and Diphenyl-1-Ipicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay for TPC and antioxidant activity, respectively.

The phthalocyanine photosensitizer Pc 4 binds preferentially to the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum.

We report here that PoII and red light induces apoptosis. However, the precise mechanism appears to differ from that induced by PDT with other known phthalocyanines.

Targeting of NAO may also depend on mitochondrial membrane potential. As the nonyl group has been considered essential for targeting, a systematic study of alkyl chain length was undertaken; three analogues (10-methyl-, 10-hexyl-, and 10-hexadecyl-acridine orange) were synthesized and their properties studied in phospholipid monolayers and breast cancer cells.

As revealed by ethyl acetate extraction and absorption spectrophotometry, uptake of Pc 4 into the two cell lines was linear with Pc 4 concentration and similar on a per cell basis but greater in Jurkat cells on a per mass basis. Flow cytometry showed that uptake was linear at low doses; variations in the dose-response for uptake measured by fluorescence supported differential aggregation of Pc 4 in the two cell types.

To evaluate the importance of Bax in apoptosis after PDT, we compared the PDT responses of Bax-proficient (Bax(+/-)) and Bax knock-out (BaxKO) HCT116 human colon cancer cells. PDT induced a slow apoptotic process in HCT Bax(+/-) cells following a long delay in the activation of Bax and release of cytochrome c from mitochondria.
