Background And Objectives: Fungal burn wound infections (FBWIs) are one of the most disastrous complications in burn patients. The present study investigated the incidence and the species distribution of fungal agents isolated from burn lesions and reviewed the feautures, underlying conditions, and outcomes of patients.

Materials And Methods: The wounds were swabbed and cultured on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with chloramphenicol medium.

Article Synopsis
  • - Cochlear implantation is highly effective for patients with severe to profound hearing loss, as demonstrated in the case of a four-year-old child with congenital hearing loss and a family history of the condition.
  • - Although the child had no significant issues related to his paranasal sinuses, radiological imaging revealed incidental findings of silent sinus syndrome (SSS) in the left maxillary sinus.
  • - After undergoing bilateral cochlear implantation, the patient experienced complications including left-sided ophthalmoplegia and swelling, but improved quickly with antibiotics and was discharged in nearly normal condition by the fifth day post-surgery.

A theoretical perspective on grandiose narcissism suggests four forms of it (sanctity, admiration, heroism, rivalry) and states that these forms conduce to different ways of thinking and acting. Guided by this perspective, we examined in a multinational and multicultural study (61 countries; N = 15,039) how narcissism forms are linked to cognitions and behaviors prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As expected, differences in cognitions and behaviors across narcissism forms emerged.

Species conservation assessments using the criteria outlined by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Red List can be compromised by limited data availability. Species-rich tropical plant taxa with numerous microendemics are particularly problematic. This study focusses on the Begonia flora of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, comprised of 65 herbaceous species mainly found in rainforest habitats.

Background:  A clinical condition known as chronic otitis media (COM) is characterized by tympanic membrane perforation, varying degrees of hearing loss, and otorrhea that lasts for two to six weeks. COM alone or with cholesteatoma may result in ossicular chain discontinuity and ossicular erosion. The hearing restoration procedure includes repairing the eardrum and building the ossicular chain in ears with damaged ossicles.

Background: Infections of cats with Echinococcus granulosus is uncommon because the cat is not part of the parasite life cycle that a carnivorous and another herbivore represent. Nevertheless, it occurs incidentally when eating food or drinking water contaminated with the worm's larva, especially with the presence of the definitive host (dogs), in this case, the infections are concentrated in stray or outside cats. For this reason, this study examined the possibility of cat infection with E.

Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) is an uncommon and severe infection that tends to affect both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. To gain insights into the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of CM in Iran, this study evaluated patients with subacute or chronic meningitis referred to 15 Iranian hospitals. Relevant clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the patients were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • Hearing loss affects individuals of all ages and can lead to social isolation and decreased quality of life (QOL), prompting the need for effective interventions like hearing aids.
  • This study, conducted at a hospital in Saudi Arabia, assessed QOL in 210 patients who received hearing aids and used specific questionnaires to measure their outcomes and associated factors.
  • Results showed that most participants had significant hearing loss, but overall QOL was satisfactory; relationships positively influenced QOL, and better hearing aid outcomes correlated with improved general and psychological health.

Allergic fungal rhinosinusitis is an immunoglobulin E-mediated disease caused by fungal antigens. Orbital complications due to bone erosion by the expanding, mucin-filled sinuses are considered uncommon, but they require immediate intervention. We report a successful management of a complicated case of allergic fungal rhinosinusitis in a 16-year-old female complaining of progressive nasal obstruction for four months, who only sought medical advice after developing proptosis and visual affection.

Introduction: University students, as members of the digital generation, often access the internet for non-academic purposes while attending lectures in the classroom. Internet access for non-academic purposes during lectures is known as academic cyberslacking. This study aims to test the effects of media multitasking, self-efficacy, self-regulation, social media engagement, and Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction (ARCS) motivation, on the engagement in academic cyberslacking by university students.

Species radiations, despite immense phenotypic variation, can be difficult to resolve phylogenetically when genetic change poorly matches the rapidity of diversification. Genomic potential furnished by palaeopolyploidy, and relative roles for adaptation, random drift and hybridisation in the apportionment of genetic variation, remain poorly understood factors. Here, we study these aspects in a model radiation, Syzygium, the most species-rich tree genus worldwide.

Background: a species are normal vaginal flora in healthy women, which can cause vulvovaginal candid-iasis (VVC). The formation of biofilm is a cause of drug resistance in species of vaginal origin. We aimed to specify species cause VVC, detect their biofilm-forming ability, and antifungal susceptibility pattern.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on all levels of society, including people with disabilities, who in the pre-pandemic period faced obstacles in various sectors of life that affected efforts to fulfill basic living needs due to difficulties in accessing employment.

Objective: The objective of this study was to identify various factors and causal interaction patterns that affect the inclusiveness of workers with disabilities in pandemic situations, a dynamic system is needed to capture causal interaction patterns related to the inclusiveness of workers with disabilities in pandemic situations.

Method: This study used a causal loop diagram approach, which is part of a dynamic system that begins with determining the interaction of causal variables.

We present a fast reconstruction algorithm for hyperspectral images, utilizing a small amount of data without the need for any training. The method is implemented with a dual disperser hyperspectral imager and makes use of spatial-spectral correlations by a so-called separability assumption that assumes that the image is made of regions of homogenous spectra. The reconstruction algorithm is simple and ready-to-use and does not require any prior knowledge of the scene.

Background: Tracheoesophageal voice prostheses (TVPs) have been the gold standard in rehabilitation, after laryngectomy, producing faster and premier voicing towards esophageal speech. Fungal colonization shortens the device's lifetime and leads to prosthesis dysfunction, leakage, and subsequent respiratory infection. Therefore, in the current study, we aimed to investigate the fungal colonization patterns and to propose prophylactic measures that shall increase the longevity of voice prosthesis.
