Development of a rapid and sensitive detection method for hazardous dyes attracts considerable research interest. In this work, L-Tryptophan-based Carbon dots were developed as a fluorescence sensor for the detection of Malachite green (MG). Green fluorescent L-Trp-C-dots were synthesized by a simple pyrolysis technique using L-Trp as the starting precursor.

Micronutrient Biomarkers and Their Association with Malaria Infection in Children in Buea Health District, Cameroon.

Recently malaria and micronutrient deficiencies have become a major worldwide public health problem, particularly in Africa and other endemic countries with children under 5 years old being the most vulnerable. Apart from nutritional problems that cause micronutrient deficiencies, studies have also reported that parasitic infections like malaria can affect the levels of micronutrients. Thus, this research was aimed at assessing the serum levels of micronutrient biomarkers and their association with malaria infection in children under 5 years old in the Buea Health District.

Anatomical Insights: Two Case Reports on Protostylid Variants and Literature Synthesis.

Protostylids are an anatomical variant of the paramolar tubercle, which refers to the presence of an additional cusp in the buccal surfaces of maxillary and mandibular bicuspids and molars. This structure, first reported by Dahlberg in 1950, is found in low frequencies and plays a significant role in dental anthropology. This anatomical variant, if present poses a threat to dental caries and periodontal diseases and hence requires early diagnosis and preventive dental care.
