Hyperglycemia is associated with increased in-hospital morbidity and mortality, especially in critically ill intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Propofol, a common anesthetic used in the ICU, may cause hyperglycemia by inducing insulin resistance, reducing insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in muscles, and attenuating insulin-mediated suppression of hepatic glucose. We present the case of a 58-year-old female who was admitted for sepsis secondary to cellulitis but required intubation for respiratory failure.

Current hardware watermarking techniques fall short either in terms of watermark strength (size of covert constraints generated) or number of security layers/variables involved in the security constraints generation process. This paper presents a novel approach for high level synthesis (HLS) watermarking by bio-mimicking DNA fingerprint profiling to counter hardware IP piracy.

Integrating authentic (secure version) GLRT hardware IP core in the system-on-chip (SoC) of ECG detectors is paramount for reliable operation and estimation of ECG parametric data, such as Q wave, R wave and S wave (QRS) complex detection. A pirated GLRT hardware IP integrated into an ECG detector may result in an unreliable/erratic estimation of ECG parametric data that can be hazardous and fatal for the end patient.

Auricle is the outward visible part of ear and composed of skin and cartilage. Auricle due to its standout and projected position is more vulnerable to get injured and cause distortion of the facial aesthetics. Reconstruction of the ear defect should be individualized depending on the defect size, location, nearby skin, patient requirement and surgeon experience.

Purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly formidable disease. Globally, multiple vaccines have been developed to prevent and manage this disease. However, the periodic mutations of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 variants cast doubt on the effectiveness of commonly used vaccines in mitigating severe disease in the Indian population.

We compared standard auscultation and ultrasound-guided lung sliding to confirm the position of ETT in children.
Methods: Seventy-five pediatric patients between 2-8 years of age, American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification I and II scheduled for surgery under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation were studied.
Introduction: Lumbar facet joint pain may refer to the back, buttocks, and proximal parts of the lower extremities. Intraarticular facet joint injections, facet joint nerve blocks, or facet joint neurolytic procedures are popular for the management of facet joint pain.
Material And Methods: In this prospective, randomised study, 60 patients with a medical evaluation and pain pattern consistent with lumbar facet joint pain were randomly allocated to two groups.
Mechanical ventilation serves as crucial life support for critically ill patients. Although it is life-saving prolonged ventilation carries risks and complications like barotrauma, Ventilator-associated pneumonia, sepsis, and many others. Optimizing patient-ventilator interactions and facilitating early weaning is necessary for improved intensive care unit (ICU) outcomes.

Airway management in a case of parapharyngeal abscess is challenging as there can be airway obstruction during anaesthetic induction. We describe airway management in 13-yr-old child with parapharyngeal abscess scheduled for incision and drainage. Informed consent was taken for publishing this case report.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the clinical and endoscopic profiles of UGIB in an adult population.
Introduction: White coat hypertension (WCH) patients are those individuals who have high blood pressure (BP) in the medical environment but are normal during their daily activities. White coat hypertensive patients with normal daytime ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) rapidly progress to sustained hypertension. WCH is mainly treated with non-pharmacological methods.

Nearly 60% of primary bloodstream infections are caused by Gram-positive cocci. Gram-positive bacteria gain access to the bloodstream through invasive procedures and various patient care equipment like catheters, intravenous lines, and mechanical ventilators.

To report the outcomes of patients with head and neck squamous cell cancers (HNSCC) who received radiotherapy as a part of their first line treatment. All patients treated with radiotherapy for HNSCC between 2013 and 2017 were retrospectively identified from the department records. Patients with follow-up of less than 3 months following primary treatment were excluded.

Background And Aims: Epidural steroid injections (ESIs) with or without local anaesthetics have been used for the past several years for the treatment of back pain, especially for radicular symptoms. The aim of this prospective study was to compare the efficacy of midline with parasagittal approach for interlaminar ESI in the management of symptomatic lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.
Methods: Sixty patients (aged 20-60 years) with pain pattern consistent with lumbar radiculopathy caused by lumbar intervertebral disc herniation and who did not respond to conservative treatment were included in the study.
Skull pin insertion in patients undergoing craniotomies elicits hemodynamic and neuroendocrine stress response that may be deleterious to the patient. Various drugs and techniques have been documented in literature to abate this stress response. Against this background, we aimed to compare the efficacy of intravenous dexmedetomidine and local infiltration of ropivacaine for attenuation of stress response to pin insertion in craniotomies.

But there are various situations in which it shows false readings. Our aim of the study was to observe the changes in BIS value with steep Trendelenburg position, which is usually done, in robotic pelvic surgeries.

The disease has claimed many fatalities as it has transcended from one country to another since it was first discovered in China in late 2019. To prevent further morbidity and mortality associated with COVID-19, most of the countries initiated a countrywide lockdown.

In streptozotocin (STZ) induced murine models of T1D, microdose lithium therapy improved hyperglycemia, attenuated body weight loss and prevented early signs of diabetic kidney injury. This beneficial effect was associated with preservation of pancreatic islet histology and β-cell production of insulin as well as mitigated oxidative damage of islets.
