The Leuciscidae (minnows, shiners and relatives) is a diverse family of freshwater fishes with many species endangered due to anthropogenic stressors. and are two shiners found only in the upper Brazos River basin in Texas, USA and listed as endangered due to contracted habitat. The complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced for two vouchered specimens for each species; having a total mitogenome length of 16,711 bp and having a total mitogenome length 16685-16686 bp, with both including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs genes, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes.

Orbital magnetization provides a sensitive probe of topology and interactions, with particularly rich phenomenology in Chern insulators in which the topological edge states carry large equilibrium currents. Here we use a nanoscale superconducting sensor to map the magnetic fringe fields in twisted bilayers of MoTe, in which transport and optical sensing experiments have revealed the formation of fractional Chern insulator (FCI) states at zero magnetic field. We observe oscillations in the local magnetic field associated with fillings ν = -1, -2/3, -3/5, -4/7 and -5/9 of the first moiré hole band, consistent with the formation of FCIs at these fillings.

Site-directed spin labeling electron paramagnetic resonance (SDSL-EPR) using nitroxide spin labels is a well-established technology for mapping site-specific secondary and tertiary structure and for monitoring conformational changes in proteins of any degree of complexity, including membrane proteins, with high sensitivity. SDSL-EPR also provides information on protein dynamics in the timescale of ps-μs using continuous wave lineshape analysis and spin lattice relaxation time methods. However, the functionally important time domain of μs-ms, corresponding to large-scale protein motions, is inaccessible to those methods.

This paper presents a simple physics-based model for the interpretation of key metrics in laser direct drive. The only input parameters required are target scale, in-flight aspect ratio, and beam-to-target radius, and the importance of each has been quantified with a tailored set of cryogenic implosion experiments. These analyses lead to compact and accurate predictions of the fusion yield and areal density as a function of hydrodynamic stability, and they suggest new ways to take advantage of direct drive.
