A case of seminal vesicle metastasis from bilateral seminoma.

Introduction: Postoperative recurrence of seminoma is often seen in lungs, liver, and retroperitoneal lymph nodes, such as the para-aortic lymph nodes. Most of these recurrences (>90%) occur in the first 3 years after orchiectomy. We report a case of a single recurrence in the seminal vesicle after bilateral radical orchiectomies for metachronous bilateral testicular seminoma.

The Role of Medical Therapies in the Management of Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia: A Narrative Review.

Cervical cancer and its precursors (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN)) represent a current major public health concern. Currently, the treatment of choice for patients with HSILs (high-grade intraepithelial lesions) is surgical treatment-LEEP or cold-knife conization-except for in pregnant women, where it may have significant future consequences. In this paper, we aim to review the current evidence regarding the efficacy of non-surgical approaches for CINs.

Four Target Resequencing for the Bovine Major Histocompatibility Complex Region. Proof of Concept.

The bovine leukocyte antigen (BoLA) comprises four regions that contain a high density of polymorphic genes and frequently show gene copy number variations (CNV). Therefore, genotyping BoLA using genome-wide resequencing is difficult. This study aimed to develop four probe sets for resequencing of the BoLA region using a hybridization capture target next-generation sequencing (NGS) method.

Transfer printing of perovskite nanocrystal self-assembled monolayers controlled surface wettability.

Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (LHP NCs) have attracted significant attention as next-generation semiconductor nanomaterials due to their near-unity photoluminescence quantum yields and tunable emission wavelengths. Despite their outstanding optical properties, their instability makes it difficult to apply conventional lithography techniques to LHP NC films, which hinders their application in nano-optoelectronics. To overcome this problem, in this work, we propose solvent- and heat-free contact printing technologies for the transfer and microfabrication of LHP NC self-assembled monolayers, employing viscoelastic stamps and wettability-controlled solid substrates.

Social Isolation Among Older Adults With Dysphagia Requiring Home Health Care: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background And Objectives: We hypothesized that community-dwelling older adults with impaired swallowing functions have a higher risk of social isolation than individuals without impaired function. The aim of this study was to identify the association of dysphagia with social isolation in home care patients using daily interaction frequency and laughter frequency as indicators of social interaction.

Methods: One hundred ninety home care patients, aged ≥65 years, were included in this cross-sectional questionnaire survey.

Obesity and postoperative flap complications in maxillofacial reconstruction surgery.

Objectives: This single-center retrospective observational study aimed to determine whether obesity is associated with postoperative flap complications following maxillofacial reconstruction. Obesity can increase the risk of postoperative flap complications during autologous breast reconstruction. Therefore, we hypothesized that obesity also affects maxillofacial reconstruction.

[Two Cases of Splenic Tumors Safely Resected by Hand-Assisted Laparoscopic Splenectomy].

Case 1: The patient was an 80-year-old woman with a history of chemoradiotherapy for cervical cancer 4 years ago. Splenic tumor was detected on contrast CT. On PET-CT showed accumulation of FDG in the splenic tumor.

[Introducing Robot-Assisted Liver Resection Using ICG Fluorescence Imaging in Our Department].

ICG fluorescence imaging has been widely used as an intraoperative navigation technique for liver resection. The ability to overlay ICG fluorescence imaging on a monitor in the operative field is highly advantageous during laparoscopic liver resection. In all cases of robot-assisted liver resection(RALR)performed at our department, liver resection was performed using ICG fluorescence navigation.

Purpose: Human flourishing is a multidimensional concept that encompasses happiness and life satisfaction (happiness), mental and physical health (health), meaning and purpose (purpose), character and virtue (character), and close social relationships (social), which are characterized by comprehensive well-being. This cross-sectional study investigated the association of oral health, number of remaining teeth, and prosthesis use with multidimensional flourishing.

Methods: Data was sourced from the 2022 wave of the Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study, a population-based survey of independent individuals aged 65 years or older.

A case of kidney graft injury during cesarean section in a pancreas and kidney transplantation recipient.

Although organ transplantation is becoming general practice, little is known about the safety of delivery. This is the first known case that describes injury to the kidney by the uterine fundal pressure maneuver during cesarean section in a pancreas and kidney transplant recipient. A 40-year-old pregnant woman (gravida 0, para 0) was referred to our clinic.

Metal-Translocation-Coupled Ligand-Binding/Release by Dinuclear Rhodium Sandwich Complexes.

Switching the location of metal atoms or ions in a molecule has been of great interest as a behavior of molecular machines. We describe herein that the reversible metal translocation can be coupled with the ligand-binding/release of organometallic complexes. The two rhodium moieties sandwiched between arylpolyene ligands exhibit metal-assembly and disassembly through reversible migration between the arene site and the olefin site, in response to the association and dissociation of additional ligands.

Diagnostic challenges in differentiating mediastinal tuberculosis from mediastinal tumors: A case report.

Mediastinal tuberculosis poses significant diagnostic challenges due to its nonspecific clinical and radiological features, particularly in high TB incidence regions like Indonesia. Here, we present the case of A 17-year-old male, initially diagnosed with a mediastinal tumor, was later confirmed to have mediastinal tuberculosis (TB). Despite normal lab results, imaging revealed a right parahilar mass.

Educational Interventions to Improve Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination and Cervical Cancer Screening Among Japanese University Students.

Aim This study evaluates university students' knowledge and attitudes toward Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and cervical cancer screening and assesses the impact of educational interventions. Methods Participants from Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka City University, and Osaka Prefecture University completed questionnaires before and after receiving educational materials, including cartoons and a video featuring medical professionals. We compared the correct answer rates for knowledge-related questions and evaluated changes in behavioral characteristics and attitudes toward HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening before and after distributing the educational materials.

Immunostimulatory effects of Heyndrickxia coagulans SANK70258.

Here, we examined the immunomodulating effects of Heyndrickxia coagulans SANK70258 (SANK70258). Mouse splenocytes treated with γ-ray-irradiated SANK70258 produced higher levels of IFN-γ than those with 7 types of lactic acid bacteria. IFN-γ was mainly produced by NK cells, involving IL-12/IL-23, dendritic cells (DCs), and NFκB signaling.
