Early prediction of gallstone disease with a machine learning-based method from bioimpedance and laboratory data.

Gallstone disease (GD) is a common gastrointestinal disease. Although traditional diagnostic techniques, such as ultrasonography, CT, and MRI, detect gallstones, they have some limitations, including high cost and potential inaccuracies in certain populations. This study proposes a machine learning-based prediction model for gallstone disease using bioimpedance and laboratory data.

Variability in Stigma Severity During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate change in the stigma that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic over time and the factors responsible for the change. Methods Individuals with COVID-19 who presented to Ankara Medicalpark and VM Medicalpark Hospitals' Internal Diseases and Chest Diseases polyclinic between May 2021 and April 2022 were examined. The volunteers were divided into two groups: those who had COVID-19 within the first six months of the pandemic (group 1) and those who had it in the second six months (group 2).

Fatigue and depression in elderly patients with poorly controlled diabetes.

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the severity of depression and fatigue in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), aged ≥ 60 years, with poor diabetes control. Between December 2018 and June 2019, 310 patients aged ≥ 60 years, with hemoglobin A1C ≥ 10%, followed-up with the diagnosis of T2DM for at least 3 years in the internal medicine outpatient clinics of Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and research hospital were included in the study. The geriatric depression scale (GDS) and fatigue severity scale (FSS) questionnaires were administered.

Real-life data on tapering or discontinuation of canakinumab therapy in patients with familial Mediterranean fever.

This study aimed to investigate the disease characteristics of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients undergoing dose optimisation and discontinuation of canakinumab therapy. A total of 61 patients diagnosed with FMF and using canakinumab for the resistant disease were enrolled on this retrospective study. Patients' characteristics, disease activity, treatment response, dose optimisation, dose intervals, attack-free periods, drug-free periods and side effects were noted.

Perspective of sarcoidosis in terms of rheumatology: a single-center rheumatology clinic experience.

Sarcoidosis may present with many rheumatological symptoms as well as mimic and/or may occur concomitantly with many other rheumatic diseases. We examined the demographic, clinical and laboratory characteristics of patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis in the rheumatology department. This study planned as retrospective cross-sectional study.

Tofacitinib monotherapy and erectile dysfunction in rheumatoid arthritis: a pilot observational study.

We aimed to explore the effect of tofacitinib on erectile dysfunction (ED), as well as disease activity and health related quality of life in male patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Forty eight male RA patients with ED were included. Demographic and clinical data at baseline and 6 month of treatment were recorded from patients' medical records.

Nutritional Health in Premenopausal Women: A Cross-Sectional Study from Turkey.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional habits of premenopausal women using the Food Consumption Frequency Questionnaire (FCFQ) and to evaluate the relationship between anthropometric measurements, lipid parameters, and the presence of anemia with the findings obtained.

Methods: This study was carried out in the internal medicine outpatient clinics of the Health Sciences University Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training Research Hospital (located in Yıldırım districts) and Gürsu State Hospital (located in Gürsu districts) of Bursa province between 1 June-31 August 2019. We used clustered sampling in patient selection.

Predictive and prognostic effect of ABO blood group on immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Background: The relationship of the ABO blood group system with the immune response is known, but its relationship with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has not been clearly investigated until now.

Objective: In this study, the relationship between different blood groups and nivolumab treatment response in patients with advanced malignant melanoma was investigated.

Methods: The data of patients who used nivolumab for advanced malignant melanoma between April 2018 and April 2021 were retrospectively reviewed.

Health Literacy and Quality of Life in Patients With Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Aim The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between health literacy (HL) and quality of life (QoL) in type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients. Method This study was conducted between February 2020 and May 2020 at the University of Health Sciences Bursa Yuksek Ihtisas Training and Research Hospital, in Turkey. A total of 155 patients with type 1 DM between the ages of 18-65 were included in the study.

Prognostic and predictive value of KRAS mutation number in metastatic colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in the world and is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Several mutations are involved in the development of CRC. The prognostic significance of the KRAS mutation has been discussed in many studies.

Effects of the Disease Characteristics and the Treatment on Psychological Status in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Introduction: Various psychiatric disorders, especially depression and anxiety, are seen in 2/3 of the chronic rheumatic diseases with chronic pain. In this study, we aimed to define anxiety and depression rates in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) patients (under treatment) with similar age and gender; to compare the obtained data with each other and healthy control group; and also we aimed to investigate the relationship between human leukocyte antigen B27(HLA-B27) in AS, Rheumatoid Factor (RF) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCP) in RA with anxiety and depression.

Method: 46 patients with RA, 43 patients with AS and 29 healthy volunteers were evaluated with Beck Depression Inventory (BAI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI).

Evaluation of serum Spondin 2 levels in the different stages of Type 2 diabetic nephropathy.

Aim: We aimed to determine whether serum SPON2 is a useful biomarker in the detection of Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) and to compare serum SPON2 levels with 24-hour urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) in patients with DN at different stages.

Methods: The cohort included 80 adult patients with T2D and 20 healthy controls. The patients with T2D were divided into four groups according to UAER and serum creatinine (sCr) levels.

A case of torsion of the wandering spleen presenting as hypersplenism and gastric fundal varices.

Wandering spleen is the displacement of the spleen from its normal location due to the loss or weakening of ligaments that hold the spleen in the left upper quadrant. The possibility of torsion of the spleen is high due to the long and mobile nature of the vascular pedicle. Generally, cases are asymptomatic.
