Analysis of traumatic acute diaphragmatic injuries.

Introduction: Diaphragm rupture (DR) is a rare pathological event usually caused by trauma. We aimed to analyse the characteristics of acute diaphragmatic injuries due to trauma and the treatment of such injuries.

Methods: This study included the data of 15 patients who sustained diaphragmatic injuries due to trauma and underwent surgery at the Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital General Surgery Service between January 2016 and December 2019.

A Rare Cause of Acute Abdomen: Perforation of Double Meckel's Diverticulum.

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract. In this report, we aimed to represent a case of intestinal perforation, caused by double Meckel's diverticulum, which is a very rare entity in surgical practice. The patient was a 20-year-old Caucasian man, admitted to hospital with complaints of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomitting during the last 3 days.

Risk factors influencing morbidity and mortality in perforated peptic ulcer disease.

Objective: Peptic ulcer perforation continues to be a major surgical problem. In this study, risk factors that influence morbidity and mortality in perforated peptic ulcer disease were examined.

Surgical alternatives in the treatment of intestinal intussusceptions resulting from polyps in adults.

Adult intussusception is an uncommon disease requiring surgical intervention. The aim of this study is to discuss the surgical alternatives and share our experience in the treatment of adult patients with intussusceptions formed as a result of polyps. The retrospective study included 16 adult patients who underwent surgery after the diagnosis of intestinal invaginations resulting from polyps between the years 2000 and 2011.

Efficiency of the TK Culture System in the diagnosis of tuberculosis.

We have evaluated the efficiency of the TK Rapid Mycobacterial Culture System in isolating mycobacteria from clinical samples and in susceptibility testing. The TK Medium indicates mycobacterial growth by changing its color from red to yellow. During a 1-year period, 16,303 clinical samples were inoculated to TK selective (TK SLC) and Löwenstein-Jensen media (LJ).
