Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of zofenopril in an experimental model of ovarian torsion in rats with histologic and biochemical assessments.

Material And Methods: Experimental procedures were performed on 35 female rats (Wistar albino). Rats were randomly divided into five groups as: sham (sham operated, n = 7); vehicle group 1 (torsion-detorsion, n = 7) with 2 h ischemia and 2 h reperfusion; vehicle group 2 (torsion-detorsion, n = 7) with 2 h ischemia and 5 days' reperfusion; zofenopril group 1 (torsion-detorsion, n = 7) with 2 h ischemia, 2 h reperfusion and a signal dose of oral 15 mg/kg zofenopril; and zofenopril group 2 (torsion-detorsion, n = 7) with 2 h ischemia, 5 days' reperfusion and 5 days' oral 15 mg/kg zofenopril.

Objectives: To investigate whether a lower than expected number of oocyte after ≥14 mm follicle aspiration during OPU has any effect on pregnancy outcomes Methods: This is a retrospective study done between 2010 and 2013 at the IVF Unit of the Zeynep Kamil Women and Children Diseases Education and Research Hospital, dealing with the medical records of infertile patients who underwent IVF cycle and controlled ovarian stimulation with long agonist or fix antogonist protocol. The patients included into the study were those diagnosed with a primary infertility, aged between 23 and 39, at a BMI of 22-28 kg/m(2) and having received the first or second IVF treatment. Male factor, presence of uterine anomaly, patients with serious endometriosis and patients with low ovarian reserve were all excluded from the study.

  • Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a common periodic fever affecting over 100,000 people globally, but research on its impact on hearing in children is limited.
  • This study compared hearing levels and cochlear functions in 62 children with FMF and 27 healthy peers using advanced audiological tests.
  • Results showed that hearing levels were generally normal in both groups, indicating that FMF does not significantly affect hearing in children, even at high frequencies.

Purpose: Paraquat (PQ; 1,1'dimethyl-bipyridilium 4,4'-dichloride), which is used extensively throughout the world, is highly toxic to humans. We aimed to investigate the protective effects of different doses of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on PQ-intoxicated rats.

Materials And Methods: A total of 80 rats were divided into the following eight groups, comprising 10 rats in each group: group 1: control; group 2: administered with CAPE (10 µmol/kg); group 3: administered with 15 mg/kg PQ (PQ15 group); group 4: administered with 30 mg/kg PQ (PQ30 group); group 5: administered with 45 mg/kg PQ (PQ45 group); group 6: administered with 15 mg/kg PQ + CAPE; group 7: administered with 30 mg/kg PQ + CAPE and group 8: administered with 45 mg/kg PQ + CAPE.

Article Synopsis
  • Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Brucella bacteria, typically affecting humans but is not usually fatal.
  • Five diagnosed cases in our study showed extremely high ferritin levels, ranging from 435 to 1200 ng/ml, in patients aged 8 to 16 years.
  • After treatment, patients reported a decrease in symptoms and their ferritin levels returned to normal, indicating that high ferritin can occur in brucellosis without the presence of conditions like hemochromatosis or Still's disease.
